About
Built for the investor who reads the filing.
ValueBase exists because the tools for patient, business-first investing are either priced for institutions or scattered across a dozen browser tabs.
The mission
Make serious fundamental research affordable and pleasant for individuals. Not faster trading and not more signals, but a better understanding of a smaller number of businesses, and an honest measure of how that understanding paid off.
If a feature does not help you understand a business, value it, or track it truthfully, it does not belong in the product.
The point of view
A share is a piece of a business, so the work is business analysis. Read the accounts, understand the economics, form a view on value, then be patient. That belief shapes every screen in the product. It is why the benchmark is a total-return index, why the DCF is yours to build, and why every claim in a research report carries its source.
The investors who taught usHow we build
- Show the sourceEvery number should be traceable to a filing. If we cannot cite it, we would rather not print it.
- Density over decorationThis audience reads tables. We optimise for information per screen, not for animation.
- Honest measurementBenchmarks include dividends. Returns are shown money-weighted and time-weighted, and bad years stay visible.
- No advice, no signalsWe supply research inputs and tracking. We never tell you what to buy, and we do not sell order flow.
- Small and independentA small team, funded by subscriptions, with no incentive to make you trade more.
- Slow featuresWe would rather ship one tool that survives ten years of use than five that chase a quarter.
“Knowing what you don’t know is more useful than being brilliant.”Charlie Munger
