[DRAFT] This page is a carefully prepared draft and is not legal advice. It must be reviewed by a qualified solicitor before ValueBase launches, and anything else marked like this still needs a decision from us.
Not investment advice
ValueBase is provided by DATAREPORTIVE LTD., which is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We do not give investment, financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing on ValueBase is a personal recommendation, or an offer or invitation to buy or sell any investment. Everything we publish is general information that does not take account of your objectives, your financial situation or your needs. If you are unsure whether an investment is right for you, please speak to a financial adviser authorised by the FCA, whom you can find on the FCA register.
Research reports are written by AI
Every research report on ValueBase is written by an AI system and says so at the top. Reports follow a fixed method, value the business before looking at its share price and cite their sources, so that you can check the reasoning rather than simply trust it. They can still contain mistakes, misread a filing, miss something that matters or fall out of date when a company reports new results, and they may reach you without having been reviewed by a person. The date on each report tells you how current it is.
Star ratings and fair values
A star rating compares a company's share price with the fair value estimate in its latest report, and it asks for a wider margin of safety the harder a business is to value. It is a mechanical summary of one estimate at one point in time, not a recommendation, and it moves as the share price moves. A fair value rests on assumptions about the future that may prove wrong, so please treat it as one view among the several you should consider.
Data can be delayed or wrong
Prices, financial statements, ratios, filings, holdings and news come from third-party providers and public sources. No price on ValueBase is a real-time quote, and some figures are a day or more old, as our page on how our prices work explains. We work hard to keep the data accurate, but we cannot guarantee it, and figures from different sources can disagree. Please check anything important against the company's own filings, or against your broker, before you act on it.
Portfolio figures are estimates
Portfolio values, returns and benchmark comparisons are calculated from the transactions you enter and from delayed prices and exchange rates. They are there to help you track your own progress honestly. They are not a statement of account and should not be used for a tax return, and they will not match your broker exactly.
Superinvestors and quotations
Superinvestor holdings come from 13F filings made to the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Those filings are made up to 45 days after the end of each quarter and cover only long positions in certain US-listed securities, so they show part of a portfolio as it was rather than what an investor owns today. Quotations from well-known investors appear on ValueBase as the philosophy that inspires the product. None of the people we quote or track is connected with ValueBase, and none of them endorses it.
Investing involves risk
The value of investments, and the income from them, can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invest. Past performance is not a reliable guide to future results, and changes in exchange rates can affect the value of investments made in another currency.
Our independence
ValueBase is paid for by its subscribers. We do not execute trades, we do not sell order flow and we have no interest in how often you trade.
[TO CONFIRM] Say whether ValueBase ever accepts payment from companies that appear on the site, and whether anyone at ValueBase may hold investments in them and how that is handled.
Our Terms of Service set out the legal position in full, including our responsibility to you.
